My mission is for this to be a place where each client and family can feel their feelings and grow in their understanding of themselves and how they interact with the world around them. It is important to me for each person to be seen and heard.
My methods of therapy include Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Client Centered, Spiritual Roots System, Child Centered Play Therapy, sand tray, and expressive therapy techniques. I believe in the importance of play, and I incorporate play therapy into many of my sessions. A focus is placed on helping the client learn how to feel their feelings and express their needs in a healthy way.
I received my Masters in Social Work from Western Kentucky University and have since achieved my LCSW. I am currently under Play Therapy supervision and am in my 3rd and final phase to become a Registered Play Therapist. I have had extensive experience working with clients and families struggling with and/or impacted by anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, behavior difficulties, self esteem, adoption, social struggles, divorce, Bipolar, relationships, grief, life transitions, suicidal thoughts, self harm, codependency, family conflict, and more.
Throughout college as myself and others around me struggled with mental health, I became passionate in this particular area of social work and grew in my desire to become a therapist. I became very passionate about sharing information with parents after becoming a parent myself. I enjoy time with my two boys and husband when I’m not in the office.
My mission is for every person I serve to feel and know that they are loved, seen, and valued. I want to provide each client with the hope that they can find healing and growth.
My methods of therapy include Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative Theory, Client Centered, Spiritual Roots System, and Child Centered Play Therapy. I use a variety of techniques such as sand tray, expressive art, music, and mindfulness. I believe our emotions are essential and good, though they are often misunderstood, over-exaggerated, or discarded.
I received my Masters in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University and have since achieved my LMSW. I am currently under supervision working towards my LCSW. I am currently certified through Evergreen Certifications as a Youth Mental Health Specialist and an Anxiety-Informed Professional and I am working towards being certified in DBT Therapy. I have experience working with individuals and families struggling with or impacted by anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, ADHD, OCD, self esteem, social struggles, divorce, strained relationships, grief, life transitions, suicidal thoughts, self harm, and more.
While I was in the nursing program during my first two years of my undergraduate, I took some classes and fell in love with psychology. I realized I had a greater passion to help with people’s mental health rather than their physical health. I love getting to be with people through some of their toughest experiences and most vulnerable times in life – because that is true, authentic connection. When I am not providing therapy, I love spending time with my husband, our friends, family, and our cat, Arwen. A few favorite activities include hiking, rock climbing, and game nights.
